Textbook & Resource Evaluation Guide

The ECOESC Curriculum Department has developed a guide that can be used when evaluating textbooks and classroom resources to determine if they are aligned to Ohio Academic Content Standards. This guide is available for purchase and contains:

• Black line masters that can be duplicated for all the teachers who are participating in the evaluation of textbooks, kits, workbooks, and other resources.
• All the pre-kindergarten through 12th Grade Level Indicators for the four core Academic Content Standards.
• A check list to determine Indicators covered in up to six companies on each reproducible page.
• A separate section per grade level for evaluating features such as Physical Features, Assessments, Compontents, Content.
• Space for additional comments to assist in final decision.

This guide provides a comprehensive check list of Indicators by core subject areas. It also aligns the resources and textbook evaluation process to the Ohio Academic Content Standards. Using our guide will promote efficient decision making for new textbook and resource adoptions and prevent needless purchases of materials not aligned to standards.
